end of summer phobia_ how to make the most of what's left


I'm in the park, and I just heard someone say, "Yeah well there's only 3 months left until winter...."

Last year I tripped out hard towards the end of summer. I was like, "what are all the things I can check off before the summer ends so I don’t feel like I’ve missed it?" When you’re in an office all day, it’s easy to feel like you’re wasting the summer. For me there’s only really two things that make me feel like I’ve made the most out of my summer. 

get outside

Do as much as you can outside. Whether that means bringing your laptop out or playing sports. Here are some other ideas that will be specific to right now in Toronto.

being appreciative and present

But if you’re not in Toronto, I think this is the most important part anyway. When you’re out there doing whatever, being really appreciative and present in what it is that you’re doing, is key in making it feel like you’re making the most of your time. If you’re kayaking and all you can think about is the fleeting days of summer, then you won’t get the feeling of fulfilment of having done something fun. But this is just a state of mind. Mind you, state of mind is everything.
